When should you add an amount to a UPI QR?
A UPI QR code with amount is best when the customer should see a specific INR amount after scanning. The generated UPI link includes payee address, payee name, currency, amount, and optional transaction note.
This is useful for invoices, order totals, tuition fees, subscriptions, event fees, bookings, deposits, or any payment request where the value should not be typed manually by the payer.
Invoice totals
Encode the final amount and use the note field for the invoice number or payment context.
Lower typing errors
The payer reviews the amount in the UPI app instead of manually entering it.
Still payer-approved
The QR cannot debit money by itself. The payer must approve the request in their UPI app.
Fixed amount QR vs static QR
Use a fixed amount QR for a single known payment. Use a static QR without amount when the same printed card will be reused for changing totals, such as a shop counter or donation desk.
